I have just been informed that there will be a "Celebration of Life" for John Patterson on July 11th. This will take place at 1:00 pm at the home of Harry and Patty Taylor in Athena Oregon. Please bring a little something It will be a pot luck lunch. If anyone has any questions please call me at 802-375-0212 or email me at Strictly Hodaka. Thank you, Paul This past Sunday morning June 28, 2009, at the start of the"Hodaka Days Scrambles" in downtown Athena, Oregon, John Patterson of Weston, Oregon [we believe 45 yrs old} suffered a massive heart attack after his practice run that morning.
John was surrounded by all the Hodaka family, friends and his wife Chris. While John was transported to the hospital via ambulance the racing was on hold and most of us gathered in small circles praying for John and sharing great stories of John. Unfortunately mid morning we received a call that John had passed. After the immediate shock a hat was passed to help start a trust fund . The immediate generosity was overwhelming. Below is information for anyone who cares to donate to the " John Patterson trust fund" may do so.
Around noon we all had a riders meeting and everyone decided John would want them to race and continue one of his favorite events. Paul Stannard , club president rode Johns Hodaka and wore Johns helmet and gloves followed by every rider in a memorial lap around the track. Personally one of the most touching moments I've experienced in my life time...a great tribute to someone who loved life , loved people and loved Athena and loved to ride his Hodaka. Anyone who knows John knows that he was always full of tireless enthusiasm and a smile for for friends he had yet to meet.
This can go on and on about the emotions and events that happened this Sunday in June but we all need to pull together and remember John as John would want us too. John died doing what he loved and surrounded by the people he loved.
John was the coordinator for the Bad Rock trail ride . This event would never have come true if it were not for John's hard work and love of those gorgeous Blue Mountains we are so privileged to ride on. If this portion of the Hodaka Days event will continue it was suggested from our friend Thal Anderson that the "Bad Rock " trailride be re-named the " Big Bad John". Words can never express our grief in loosing John but we know that heaven is a better place with John helping out up there !

Look what is being said about our paints... "Gerry McToad here, just wanted to let you know the paint is totally worth the price. There was some initial sputtering but once the nozzle was straightened out I could not believe the precision of the color match. It is absolutely indistguishable from the original ! The coverage is surprsingly good as well.Guess I'll be ordering some decals soon... Once again, a great job keeping things "real" in the best possile way." Gerry McGuckin, Walden N.Y.
